5th Metatarsal Fracture

I just got back from the doc with the bad news... depending on the severity after an MRI, I may or may not be racing anymore this fall. Fingers crossed for a minor break that will only sideline me a few short weeks...

Check your nail polish. Make sure it's not laced with lead.

A bit of good news today: It's not as severe as originally thought. 2-4 weeks and I should be almost as good as new.
The Bear Chase is going to be a coin toss at this point...

bone bruise?

Stress reaction... whatever that is. Hurts but it's been manageable since the day of the x-ray. Staying off of it except to run a few miles here and there.

Just read your article in Trail Runner. Man, you are amazing and inspiring. My sister Sharlie has CF and is currently at Stanford awaiting a double lung and heart transplant. I'm passing your blog on to her. I hope I'm able to share a trail with you soon.

it is likely to crack. This normally occurs in healthy and fit individuals who subject their body to excess physical activities. This kind of fracture is normally experienced by sportspersons and military recruits who engage in physical activities for long periods of time. They develop a stress fracture that leads to foot pain. The second situation is where people have extremely weak bones. This commonly affects women with osteoporosis.
